Alex Constable has a really great eye and his photographs immediately stood out to me when I encountered them in our school’s corridors; I had no idea at the time that he was actually a painting major. Bringing the same concerns into his photography, collages and paintings, he mixes iconic imagery with a more pop, terrestrial aesthetic, creating alluring images charged with a new layer of mysticism.
Alex is originally from LA and graduated in 2013 with a BFA in painting from the San Francisco Art Institute. He now lives back in LA where he works in his beautiful studio behind a pink garage door, which I was lucky to visit this winter.
